In case no one else has commented on this, the dates in this movie can be confusing. There have been three ages of Middle Earth. The battle at Mount Doom happened about 3000 years before this movie is set. It was at the end of the second age. The movie takes place in the 3rd age (about 3018-3019). To make things more confusing, there's an entirely different calendar in the Shire because hobbits prefer to remain separate from the big folk, so they have different chronological markers. By Shire Reckoning, it is the year 1419. Don't worry, you're not quite as big a nerd as I am, but you're on your way, my friend!

A different level as in the next level?

They did Boromir the dirtiest in the theatrical cut, most of his character scenes are in the extended edition, you can watch them separately on RUclips. In the theatrical cut Boromir looks like a selfish dude corrupted from the start. In extended cut and especially in the books he is literally the most selfless guy in the world, except for his younger brother. All he did, for all of his life, was for the sake of Gondor. He's also the only actual human in the Fellowship, because the line of kings which Aragorn belongs to are basically superhuman, they live for 250+ years each and Aragorn himself is already 87 (it’s only revealed in the extended cut as well). And for the last 3k years, since Isilidur got offed in that ambush because of the ring, all his descendants including Aragorn were like “nope, we’re off hunting in these woods on the other side of the globe, you guys will manage on your own”. People of Gondor didn’t even know for sure if they still lived or not. So people were like okay, the king’s chief of staff - you’re now in charge, but only until the king whoever that is anymore and if they’re even alive decides to end their sabbatical, so we’ll call you a steward, not king, and you’re also not allowed to sit on the king’s throne, here’s a chair for you at the feet of the actual throne. And that’s Boromir’s bloodline, and they have common human lifespans unlike Aragorn. So while Aragorn spent the last 20 years of his life hunting, kissing one of the two coolest immortal chicks in the hemisphere and creeping over hobbits in taverns, Boromir was raised as an heir and poster boy to the steward's (not even king’s) throne of the main human city state, actually leading armies to war with the orcs (and losing A LOT), defending the city and trying to please his dad and his people. He is literally THE Captain America of Gondor, he is their public symbol of hope, their war chief, their actual prince and the guy who they believe will save them from the orcs. And Boromir knows plain as day that he can’t, he has no such power, he’s just a man. But all he cares about is Gondor, so yes, he actually sees value in the ring, because human’s memory is the shortest of them all, as is their lifespan, and nobody has heard about that ring for literally 3 thousand years. So he rides to that elven town, which takes several months of very dangerous journey, alone, to seek some help against the enemy and meets not only the possible weapon which they don’t give him, but also the guy who is actually supposed to be in his place of the poster boy and defender of the city from COUNTLESS ARMIES of the enemy, and who is supposed to carry all this responsibility, but he and all his ancestors for the past 3k years just didn’t feel like it. Also that guy’s grand-something-granddad’s corruption is literally the reason those enemy armies still exist, because he didn’t destroy the ring back then. I’d be pissed in his place too, and so would you. And yes, the ring corrupts him at some point, but even then he cares to take it not for himself, but to save his people, because he literally sees no hope in this war without a weapon like this. He only dies peacefully, because Aragorn finally stops screwing around and promises to him in actual words that he will actually save his city. THEIR city. So I will take no crap over Boromir, he’s the real MVP in this one, even if the movie doesn’t do him justice.

Fun Fact: The reason why Legolas (the arrow guy) looks saddened but confused is because he and his people are immortal. Everyone he has ever known and cared for as a friend or family can't die. He bonded with Boromir (Gondor guy) and considered him a friend and ally, so when Boromir died, Legolas didn't know how to react or what to do cause he had never experienced Death in such a finality.

I'm 20 mins in and this Sam blasphemy must stop.

Also if its any consolation, i was really glad you didn't figure out Eren and Annie were titans, kept the suspense going and the paid off was way better
